SB 847 - This act allows public schools to offer American
Sign Language (ASL) classes for foreign language credit. Such
schools must give academic credit for ASL courses if credit is
offered for other foreign language classes and must allow it to
satisfy any foreign language requirements at the school. Credit
may be earned by completing a course or by demonstrating an
appropriate level of proficiency in ASL. The Missouri Commission
for the Deaf will provide assistance in developing ASL courses
when necessary.
